My old hard drive died, and I am attempting to replace it with a ADATA SP900 Premier Pro 64GB SSD.

The ssd is not recognized by the CPU. The computer will run through the boot, and give the error. "disk boot error please insert system disk and press enter."

The computer will boot from another hdd I have, but not the ssd. Ideas?

If the model number you posted is correct, then you have a very old AMD based motherboard that was released on December 8th 2006. It does not support solid state drives.

That was the same year that Tom's Hardware published the very first review of a prototype of a Samsung ssd. It was so new the phrase "solid state drive" did not yet exist and motherboards did not yet support them.

the new ssd is blank and therefore not bootable.
but this answer doesnt seem to reflect your level of experience so could you explain a little better about the error message? When you get it, what you've done? Is the SSD detected by the bios?

I have been able to boot the computer from a second hard drive, and plug the SSD into another sata port. But that sata port I am using for the SSD simply disappears from the list.

Thank you! I feared this. Do you have any suggestions for a good hard drive in that case?
