Hi everyone !! first thread here :D Ok so bare with me :D
The other day i was playing some random game on my Comp (random because it did not required much graphics), and suddenly it turned off. when i tried to power up again the screen went idle. I instantly opened the Case and found that the Graphics card fan wasn't rolling. i tried removing it and putting it back in, and nothing. i tried removing also the Ram but nothing. all seemed to show that the problem was a dead Graphics card(BTW i have to say the Graphics card is relatively new, November 2012). I tried then with another GCard im sure it was working (i took it from my mothers comp) it was a Gigabyte 4850 512 mb . this time the fan did work but the screen was still on idle no matter what i did. at the same time just to be sure i tested my Graphics card on my mothers comp and worked properly with no issue at all, which meant for me that the Graphics card wasn't dead. The computer turns on and starts as if it would work but no beep or sound or anything and does not show anything on the screen. a friend of mine told me it could be the motherboard. i don't know what to do how could i fix this.

my setup its the following:

AMD phenom II 965 black Ed HIS 7770 IceQ X 1GB Gigabyte FX790 550 w ps
Fatal1ty 8Gb gskill (ripjaw and sniper) 2 Tb harddrives (1Tb + 2
500gb) Thermaltake Case Element V black edition

I just wet through the same thing. It turned out that during an electrical storm, my mobo shorted and caused it to die. Hopefully that hasn't happened here.
If you're not hearing the onboard speaker beep, then you could have a dead board, but i'm not so sure. Usually, there's a long beep to indicate a hardware malfunction.
If you're comfortable with doing so, try unplugging everything from the mobo, and reattach everything. I know that kind of archaic, but it worked for me for my newer mobo. Hope to help as much as possible! Keep posting and keep us updated!
