Hi all,

I had bought an i7-3770k ($249) from microcenter a few days ago, but returned it today and got the i7-4770k ($279) plus Asus Z87 Gryphon ($129) and the Fractal Design Define Mini case ($87).

Now, with these components, what RAM should I get? I need at least 16GB because my computer will be used for video/photo work.
I may overclock my CPU up to 4.2 or 4.3GHz, also planning to get either GTX 570 or HD 7870. Which is a better choice? Which maker of the card is the best (Gigabytes, Sapphire, MSI, etc.)?

Thanks

On the video cards, the 7870 is the best by far, I'd look to the Asus, that's what I have in my IB 3570K build, love the piped cooling design...For the DRAM, before making rash decesions, what all do you do with your rig, multi-task, any imaging, video work? Contrary to the above comments, the Gryphon can handle faster sticks quite easily

Thank you Jackstaylor and Tradesman.

For OC, I would never go beyond 4.2ish, so I'm pretty sure the Z87 Gryphon would handle that. For the RAM, I think I wouldn't notice any practical difference once I'm over 1600. So the 1833 is not a real limitation for the board. But I'm happy to hear that 7870 is recommended. I will go ahead and buy it, but still not sure which manufacturer is preferred (Sapphire, Gigabyte, etc.). Hopefully, someone will chime in.
PSU I'll buy the Seasonic 550 W modular gold certified unit.

Yes, my rig will be used for multi-tasking. I will be doing photo editing using Nikon Capture NX2 and Photoshop, and for video editing I will be using either premier or Sony Vegas. I would like to get into gaming as well, but not too much. I won't be running the latest games at max resolution settings or anything like that.
