I have an fx-6350, 8gb ram, and a geforce gtx 660. Since the developers work closely with intel, can my pc still play it at medium to high settings with decent frame rates even though I have an amd cpu?

My guess is a resounding yes. But it's always a possibility I'm wrong. But just in case, what I do know is that in developer diaries for the game they've stated that they've been very careful to make the minimum and recommended requirements of the game as close as to Total War: Shogun 2 as possible. So if you can play Shogun 2 on high settings, you'll likely be able to play Total War: Rome II just the same. If you don't own Shogun 2, there's a free demo for it available on Steam and other sites.
