Monitor is Generic PnP - how to change?

Installed a Asus VE247H monitor tonight. My Win 7 64-bit identifies it as a "generic pnp monitor".

My previous monitor (a Dell) had the exact model listed.

How can I get Windows to identify my monitor? I looked at the Asus web site and for the VE247, there is no driver listed, which I'm assuming means the driver comes with Windows...?

  1. After awhile, Windows Update will offer the correct driver for that monitor if it has it in its database. Just check Updates now and then or wait for it to notify you. Meantime, you aren't losing anything with the generic driver. Btw, your monitor didn't come with a driver/utility disk?
