I also have a AMD Radeon HD 5970 (Comes stock in my tower) on hand but I believe it overheats badly as it goes from 52 degrees C - 72+ without any video or game running. It came with this tower (Which was bought used/new) but I don't trust it and have never actually opened a game with it because when its installed it overheats to where I can't even get the drivers installed without having to shut down to prevent damage. (Very hot to the touch afterwards when I remove it) The screen is very sluggish when its installed, when I drag windows or programs it leaves a long sluggish trail with it. I have a feeling my PSU is failing, but have no idea if this is the issue, I'm replacing it when I put a new card in for piece of mind.
Anyone, and I mean anyone's advices, and recommendations on this is really appreciated!
Also back to the main question: What is the best card available for $200 new, or $200 used on eBay?
