I have a CRT monitor and about an hour ago it just turned off while I was using it. It is a gateway diamondtron NF VX720. I unplugged it and let it sit while blowing some cool air into the room with a fan, still doesn't work. The screen doesn't light up and the light on the power button remains unlit. I checked to make sure the wall socket is still providing power. So my question is do I have to let it sit longer or "reset" it somehow or is it just dead? If it is dead, then does anyone have an idea on how I can get a cheap/free replacment?

It is a power supply fault (the monitors power supply, obviously). The repair should be cheap (could be just an old fuse that has blown unnecessarily), unless the want to rip you off.

Hmm, how much is cheap, and where should I take it to get it fixed? Also I thought no one worked on CRT's anymore due to it being a pain in the ass and slightly dangerous due to high voltages stored in the capacitors. Also thanks for the reply.

Aren't these monitors like 12 years old? I don't think it would be worth the cost of repair.
