I tried installing (2) 8GB Corsair Vengeance Memory sticks in my ASUS P8Z77-V-LK and it won't post. When I installed only (1) 8GB stick in slot three then it boots? Any idea how to resolve this? I verified that the memory is compatible with the motherboard.

I would definitely check on the motherboard first. You have a bad memory slot I guess , as if it was a bad channel from the CPU MC , then even 4 or 3 shouldn't have worked. Rarely a single slot from a channel goes off ( I have never even heard of one TBH ) Also @Tradesman1, checking for the BIOS wont help as if one stick is working on stock ( I assume its stock ) other should as well. Can't be case of memory stick OCing itself right ? Also XMP is most likely to cross 1.5V so no , wont recommend unless model no or test speed and volt's fine.
Oh , and the motherboard has a MemOK! function , so try that one before RMAing as its a trouble not good enough.

Do you have the latest BIOS? Try with 1 in slot 1, enable XMP then add the other in 3......else try them in 1-3 or in 2-4, if no joy try each stick in 1 and then 2 - if nothing in 1 or 2 then may have a bad channel on the mobo or bad MC (memory controller) in the CPU

I tried each stick in slot 3 (black) and slot 4 (blue) and I was able to boot with 16BG showing. When I moved both sticks to slot 1 (black) and 2 (blue) or slot 1 and 4 I could not post. I believe the memory sticks are good because I tried each one by itself in slot 4 and the motherboard posted each time. Should I assume it is the motherboard?
