Hi my friend is having trouble getting a graphics card working. he gets no display.

His comptuer is:Link
Model: emachine ET1810-03

He bought these 2 items:
EVGA Nvidia GeForce 9800:link
Sparkle Power ATX-400PN ATX12V 400W Power Supply:link

He installed the card and the power supply and was trying to install the driver for the video card and it failed. he has a problem similar to this thread: link but he cant install the drivers unlike in that thread. the car doesn't seem to show up in device manager or be detected. the fan on the video card is spinning.

I don't know if this is helpful. All the machines I have used have had no trouble recognising a new card (no need to alter BIOS, disable integrated graphics etc..) just plug in and go, except one machine I had: there was either a fault in the slot, or a piece of crud in it, whatever, I had to reinsert the card a few times, then when it was working, tighten it up there and then. I never got to the bottom of it and never cared.

Has the power supply been connected directly to the graphics card - it needs the 6-pin plug attaching to the back.
Other than that, check the contacts on the card are clean and in good condition.
Make sure the card is fully seated in the PCIe slot.
