I am having 8 gb ddr3 dual channel 1333 mhz ram and upgrading from 1333 mhz to 8 gb 1600 mhz will make a big difference in gaming.

Specs of my pc
Intel i5 3470 3.2 GHz
8 gb ddr3 dual channel 1333 mhz ram
Nvidia GT640 graphics card.

Will upgrading to 1600mhz will cause much effect on gaming or just waste of money.

Solution

It will be a waste of your money. If you want to improve your gaming get a new graphics card.
AMD HD7770 or better
NVIDIA GTX650 Ti or better

Anything above or better with provide you with a tangible benefit in gaming.

I have similar CPU and 8gb 1600. Does it make any sense to add 4gb 1333 for better fps and overall performance of Arma 2 Dayz Epoch?
I actually have this 4 spare gb. Video is 3gb GTX580.

Only if the game is wanting to use more than 8GB (highly unlikely). You can easily instantly check to see how much memory any application is using with Task Manager (built into Windows). Just press ctrl+shift+esc at the same time to bring Task Manager up at any time, find your game or app and see how much CPU and RAM it's using.
