Question for you all,

I have a Rampage III Formula motherboard, and just bought a corsair H100i for my case. The way the motherboard is laid out, there's a fan header right next to the CPU socket which would be much easier for me to plug the H100i's power block fan connector into, rather than the CPU_fan header all the way at the top of the motherboard.

I have two fan headers at the top of the MOBO (CHA_fan and CPU_fan), right under the H100i's two fans, so I think it'd make sense to plug them in there. (not going to use CorsairLink, cuts down on extra cables) Which means an exhaust fan would be plugged into CPU_fan.

The H100i's CPU fan plug is only 3 pin anyway, not PWM, so can I plug this into the header mentioned above? (Right next to CPU, and marked CHA_fan (chassis fan)

This would mean that the two 4-pin radiator fans are plugged into CPU_fan, and OPT_fan 1.

This leads to two questions:
-Is it ok to have a 4-pin PWM exhaust fan plugged into the CPU fan header? And thus, the CPU fan plug (3-pin) plugging into a chassis fan header?

Thanks,
-xeromynd

Go ahead, there shouldn't be any problems with that. If the Exhaust fan fails the computer will think the CPU fan has failed and throw up some warnings though.

Alright, makes perfect sense to me. Thanks!
