Hello guys. I have a huge problem with my system and I hope that some of you have the solution for this.

When I start my PC it runs great for 5 or 10 minutes. After that system becomes unresponsive and I can't open any programs nor anything from the start menu. When I try to open something, nothing happens.

I tried doing the verification process in the CMD, didn't help. Also, I DL'ed some EXE fix for my Registry but the problem persists.

Any suggestions ? I'd like not to format my PC because I have a lot of valuable data.

PS: Earlier I hooked up my hard drive to my friend's PC and copied some files. His antivirus found lots of viruses on my hard drive and deleted it. Could that be the cause for this ?

Thanks, and best regards.

I can think of many possible reasons but the viruses that your friend's PC detected is the highest bidder

Yes, that is the problem.
If his AV found "lots of viruses", then likely it did not wipe them all out.

Don't do that. Things that claim to fix the Registry frequently make things worse.

In the case of a badly virused up PC, a full reinstall is almost always the best option.
And 'valuable data' is why we have backups and multiple copies.

And the best thing you can do in this case is to back up all your important data and format that hdd and re-install windows. Remember to install a good anti-virus before you insert/connect the media with your backed up data and do a full scan on that.

Well, after I returned home I downloaded and installed BitDefender and cleaned all of viruses. I also ran PC in Safe Mode with Networking and scanned with free online AV scanner and it showed no viruses. So I think that viruses aren't the problem.

And it still does it?
I see two main possibilities. Virus/malware, or heat. How's the dust situation in the case?

Virus/rootkit is almost certainly the problem. Try running malwarebytes (free download). If you are badly infected, the virus may block attempts to run antivirus. If you cannot get the problem resolved, your best option will be to copy all of your important data to a second drive and do a fresh windows install. Once the install is complete, download malwarebytes again and scan the drive where you stored your data for any leftovers problems.

Ok, I will try that antimalware program.

@USAFret, no dust in my PC, I cleaned it recently.

I resolved this problem I think. PC is running for over an hour now and it seems that is OK. Thank you all for posting.
