I have a pc that is dated with ddr2. It was a silent build and I wish to keep the antec sonata III case with fan and the 500W power supply. It has a micro atx motherboard: I wish to install a new motherboard, cpu, memory etcetera. Am I likely to run in to any special configuration problems?
The machine runs very quietly and I am loathe to not reuse it.

Solution
You can put to sonata ATX mobo.
So. This is good mobo. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz87xd3h
If it is must have mATX then. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz87md3h10

Why not a new case? For 50 $ you can find good solid case.

You will need to get a new powersupply as well depending on hardware specs you so desire.
The case is a standard atx case so a normal motherboard will work.

Antec sonata cases are super silent, I loved them back in the day.
