I had my build all figured out, and it looked amazing... until I found out that the line my Athlon ii x4 750k was on, didnt include the FX series! :( ... I really need a CPU thats the same caliber, maybe better, or at least a cheap motherboard that supports the FX series and my sweet, sweet Athlon 750k... no CPUs over 80 bucks pease, unless its something I cannot pass down. I really need this help, im hoping tp purchase within the week. P.S HD radeon 7850, or 7870 to go along with this CPU? I want the 7870, but it pushes my budget way too much... is it worth it? If it isnt a significant improvement, ill stick with the 7850... But regardless, HALP!

Decent entry/budget motherboard. It'll support AM3+

You didn't list your current motherboard in your post, so I can't give you a recommended CPU if I don't know your socket haha. however, the Athlon 750k is a tad on the weak side, so the 7850 would balance with it better since it won't bottleneck you like the 7870 is more likely to.

EDIT: WOOPS. I gave you an AM3+ rather than an FM2. My bad. Here's an FM2 Motherboard:

UPDATE:
I also found this one and it's a little bit more in your preferred price range:

Good reviews, seems quite reliable, even if it is Micro ATX.

id personally upgrade your cpu and mobo first then save up for your gpu, the athlon will hold you back in the long run. I mean the 8000 serieas or 9000 whatever its actually going to be should be here in october. So you might as well wait and get a 7970 or 50 once they drop down even lower. ive seen a 7950 on sale for around 200 which is a steal.

His board might be alright. He didn't list it, but we know it's AM3+ and supports the FX series. He can keep the board if that's the case and everything else about it is sufficient. If he does decide to save up to upgrade his CPU instead, I recommend he buys an FX-6300 for his board for $120:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

And then that'll properly handle an HD 7870. However, anything above an HD 7870 will begin to slowly be bottlenecked by an FX-6300, or for that matter anything in the current FX-x3xx series if he's gaming. The FX-x1xx series shouldn't even be considered, but going a slight ahead for a 7950 or a 7970 if the price is applicable should be fine. Bottlenecking will occur with games that are mostly CPU heavy, but there are a number of games that could benefit from an HD 7970 even if there is bottlenecking it won't be so bad that you can't see the difference between an HD 7850 and an HD 7970 in any game.

Wait, what? I thought you had an Athlon II X4 750k which is slot FM3 and you needed a motherboard for it? If that's the case, I listed the motherboard in my first post.

Or is the plan to completely get rid of the Athlon II X4 750k and whatever your current Motherboard is?

thhe plan was to find a cpu as good as it, and they fit onto an AMD3/3+ board.

But which one do you have? AM3 or AM3+? They both support different CPUs.

I DONT have one... im planning, im buying next week. Just need a buudget cpu that wont bottleneck the HD 7850, which can be upgraded to the fx series.

Ok. Well then I gave you the right suggestion in the first post I made. Here's the link to it again; a very decent Motherboard that has support for an Athlon II X4 750k:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

An Athlon II X4 750k won't bottleneck a Radeon HD 7850. You're not going to get something better than the Athlon II X4 without moving into the FX series which is going to cost you around $120 so it's best to just stick with the Athlon II X4 750k.

No. The Athlon II series of CPUs uses a socket known as FM2. The FX series of CPUs uses a socket known as AM3+. They both have a different number of pins and shapes, and what fits in 1 won't fit in the other. The only way to have a Motherboard that accepts both is to get a motherboard that is equipped with 2 physical CPU sockets of the specified sockets, and those are pricey as hell.

Once you want to upgrade your GPU past an HD 7850, you can totally go ahead and do so but the more powerful the next card the more bottlenecking you'll experience due to the Athlon II's limitations. You can overclock to account for this, but when it comes to bottlenecking in games that are CPU reliant, overclocking can really only provide little performance increase compared to getting a new CPU.

Right now, your Athlon and motherboard are within budget but once you're finished up with those I recommend you actually go for an Intel motherboard and CPU afterwards. Intel CPUs are much more future proof due to their efficiency within high end cards.

actually the althlon 2 is on am2 im not sure they make a board that supports all the way back to am2 and is am3+ compatible

Athlon X4 750k is a good on to go with your 7850 or 7870 because the CPU and catch up to it. The Athlon can also be overclocked to like 4Ghz i guess wish is pretty amazing for the price of 80dollars. Good for budget gaming and entry level gaming. It can also run most of the games.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f6INgYBmGo <-------- check that youtube video, its a good budget build and it talks about AMD Athlon X4 750K.
I hope I helped!! :)  have fun with your gaming cimputer

I would go with the FX-4300 or a FX-6300 depending on price at the time of ordering they're a bit more expensive than the 750K but will also be a little stronger and you'll have that compatibility with all the newer FX series CPUs later on giving more room for upgrades...
For a motherboard I don't know your budget, but I'd go for a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P or the Asus 970A EVO R2 :D
good luck on your build man ;D
