Explorer.EXE ( ) is not a valid Win32 Application.

I have windows 7 and my computer will not let me open device manager no matter how I try to open it.

When I go through the search programs and files it pops up with this error , a big X and ""blank" is not a valid Win32 application."

  1. I'm guessing a virus gone wrong. Something corrupted your explorer.exe which is a common target for attack in windows. I would say it's best to format the drive and re-install everything. If that is not an option then use something like Trinity Rescue Kit to get your files off and then run anti-virus software on it. It will take some effort on your part to do it right. Once you do that try to boot into safe mode and restore your installation.

  3. @aford10 Are all those steps suppose to be in safe mode with networking?

    Combofix can be ran in normal windows, but malwarebytes should be ran in safe mode with networking.
