Hello there, I have a Gateway DX4840-11c system bought from FutureShop in late 2010. It is kind of outdated in terms of specs, but it's still mostly suitable for my needs. Anyways, I was wondering what was the maximum memory allowed on this system? Currently I have 2GB X 2 in dual channel (I have 4 slots) but I want to increase it a little because I believe the system is not keeping up in some popular everyday needs. Now Crucial says that the Gateway DX4840-11e has can take up to 32GB of RAM while other websites say that the it can only contain 16GB max. I have found several websites stating that my version (DX4840-11c) can only take 8GB max, but I'm not 100% sure. Note: my model is the DX4840-11c which ships with 4GB stock while the DX4840-11e ships with 8GB stock. So I think their max RAM also may differ because of the different models. I also have some problem with the BIOS i think after a recent system restore the computer think i have an Acer Aspire M5910 but I don't what's wrong. If anyone can tell me some information on the RAM of my system and what layout is required or recommenced of the RAM and max RAM per slots and what-not, I'd be very pleased. I just want someone to shed some light here, that's all. Thanks I hope someone will help!
