So, as you can tell by the title my USB is write protected and ive tried everything, changing the registry, formatting, using disk-part, and even using some programs off hirens boot CD. nothing works all coming up with the same errors, disk is write protected, or unable to clean, etc... so i've run out of ideas, have the infamous geniuses of toms hardware got any? I don't need any of the data on it luckily, however it is a 32gb USB and don't want to chuck it.

General side info:
*When i look at the properties of SOME folders, the size varies from 250gb to 800gb, clearly there is something wrong, seeing that the USB drive has a max of 32gb.

*Those same folders are unable to be deleted, there is no delete option when right clicked.

*Again those same folders are named normally, however when opened all files and folders in the directory are gibberish, random symbols which can be seen here: gyazo.com/1ca0d34fde375213979a0e91070b4e25

*The files cannot be opened, error info: X is not accessible. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

I'm dumbstruck as to what could cause this behaviour, its not a virus, I have checked with multiple AV. Could I have pulled out the drive while it was still doing its thing and corrupted it?

Please, any info will help
Thanks
Tim

most commonly flash drives fail due to dropping, uncompleted data transfer/corrupt, or even unavailability of free space(about 300MB). software begins to struggle with the faulty hardware giving out garbage outputs like strange file sizes, names, also write-protection. if this wasn't a virus, I think this should be an internal hardware error. hope this helps!
