Go for Seagate Momentus XT 750.
Any reason in particular. Just trying to learn. Thanks
Sorry for the late. My response was experience driven rather than benchmarking data. Couple of month ago we have upgraded two identical desktop boot drive. Mine was Samsung SSD 840 and my friend had XT 750 as he needed extra storage too. We both had 7200 baracudas before both on SATA 3 gbps. Now my system with SSD is way faster than 7200 HDD (visible,Pleasurable performance increase). But if I rate my desktops current performance 10 on 0to10 scale my friends increase was 7.5 with XT750. I believe thats better value proposition for desktop.
Now considering you will be using it in laptop its your only choice for good increase in performance. Otherwise you have to put a SSD inside your laptop for booting and carry an external USB HDD for data storage. That will not be convenient. So go for the hybrid drive way as you selected. You can google for more info on hybrid HDD technology use in XT 750.
