i just bought this card a month ago. and so far i managed to overclock this +200mhz on clockspeed, power target 110%, voltage to the max on evga precision. hitting 61celcius max under 3 hours of stress testing.

is there any way i can raise the voltage higher than what is precision has to offer me? cos 780 meant to be running on 80c. because of this voltage cap nonsense there is really no difference from having just reference card.

pls help

Solution
On my GTX 770 the max power target is 102%, it won't allow me to go any higher... I have it running at 1305Mhz currently with ram at 8000Mhz so it seems to be ok.

What temps do you get in Precision X when running OC Scanner? Is that the stress test you are using? Is that how you are getting the 61? You can't really overclock the GTX 780 past +200MHz because of GPU Boost 2. To get around the shenanigans of the whole thing, there are some BIOS flashes you can do to get rid of boost. Do this at your own risk. I really do not recommend it. +200MHz is a good overclock for a GTX 780. The point of the DirectCU II is to be quieter and cooler, not necessarily overclock better.

well i guess you right im really not into that flash n stuff. im getting 100+fps on bf3 anywas with my current overclock. it is not like i need more fps to get rid of suttery gameplay. im just getting greedy. alrighty then the people who bought hydro copper i cant imagine how dissappointed they are right now. getting 30 something celcius can not oveclock past 200mhz cos of this volt cap bullshit

Hey guys / smokemist,
just to confirm maybe from another user of a Asus GTX 780 DirectCU II OC...
I managed to get this thing running at a boost clock of 1241MHz, maybe 1258MHz.
I mean, ok that is surely nice, I am complaining on a reasonably high level.
But the card runs so cool, there would be soo much room! My ram also runs at 7500MHz (+), couldn't be bothered to figure out more, just tried 8000MHz which was too much lol.
Anything I do above 1241 / 1258 MHz boost clock with crash the graphics driver. To run 1241 I can either increase voltage and lower core clock, or increase core clock accordingly with less voltage. Strange thing is, whatever I do I cannot go beyond 1241 / 1258 without crashing.
Any suggestions more than welcome :)

freaking tell me about it i just bought this card because it is the coolest running out of the other brands. and i can not even overclock? my car runs 63c on max load that is it. if i dont oc it hovers around 53-54c. they should unlock the voltage otherwise i would have bought the reference design with cool geforce logo

I also need help with the max voltage, got the boost up to 1168 Mhz before it starts to crash and I'm stuck with the max voltage up by 38... I cant go any higher and stressing the card gets me only 72 degrees

I don't mean to threadjack, however what is the power target?

I have a Gigabyte GTX 770 3x Oc Windforce 4Gb ed. I've just started playing with the settings and I don't know what that one does... I have it running at 1200/1252 currently but haven't gone any higher, yet...

Upgrade the bios is the best way. Im using something like156% power target and working out great so far. with gtx780 seems like temp plus power target/temp target becomes a limiting factor

Solution

Hey not sure if this will be relevant to you, but i have been able to push my direct cu2 780 to 1364 and the mem to a +355 offset (just cranked voltage in afterburner) This seems to be stable in heaven, catzilla, 3dmark, furmark and demanding games for multiple hours hitting 80 degrees at 55% fan speed. I DID replace the thermal paste on it with Arctic silver 5 and i do have great airflow in my case. I havent touched the bios at all for my card but i feel this is a pretty substantial overclock. Even when i push it to 1380 (MAX stable for 3dmark) It usually takes around an hour of gameplay before artifacts appear, then another 15 minutes before driver crash.
