I have an fx4100 at 4.5ghz Overclocked with an Evga gtx660 sc and have started to feel my CPU bottleneck in many games such as bf3 and dayz. I still want to stick with my am3+ mobo, so intel is out of the question. Also, my mobo only supports 95 watt CPUs so getting the fx8350 is also out, although what would happen if I put a 125 watt CPU in my mobo. I have already put my processor voltage at 1.475 and Oced to 4.5 which actually means its tdp is over 125watts. Anyway, I just need a good CPU to pair with my GPU and to perform well in games. My motherboard is the asrock n68 vs3fx mobo.

Consider an FX 6300

@ stock it's 95w and it will easily OC to 4.4-4.6GHz on a good air cooler.

However, you'll be pushing closer to 135w TDP when OCd. That will be risky on that MoBo, which is definitely limiting your options.

But I also wonder, can the games you play even use those 2 extra cores? If so, it will be worth it. If not, save your money and do a MoBo + CPU upgrade together later.

I have definitely considered that CPU, but how would that perform in newer games coming out. Would it be good enough to play bf4 at at least mid to high settings with gtx660.

What's your budget? AMD FX-8350 would be very nice.

Updated earlier post. And as for this question, google and see how many cores BF4 can use. If it can use all 6 you'll see some decent gains. If not, then it isn't really worth an upgrade right now and you should save $$$ to do a MoBo + CPU upgrade together.

His board can't handle it. It's a 95w TDP board. :(

Get a 970 or 990FX board + FX 8320. It will reach around 215 USD which is a big up from what you have right now.

I have yet to stumble across such a bundle, if you know where to get that bundle, can you link it to me. Also, i have a nzxt gamma micro atx case, which i will need a an atx mobo for. Also, i am planning to buy the cpu around the time of christmas 2013 so prices will most definitely be cheaper then than now.

Ok so I found this motherboard and was wondering whether it was good enough to Overclock th fx8320, it in the CPU support list but I'm not sure if I am going to be able to oc it. Anyway here is the link:

It can OC. Any 970 or 990FX chipset motherboard can. Sorry for late reply as I was working on my website ( link in signature ) And yeah , I guess its best to check on Christmas , as you might find a 990FX board at 970 price maybe !
