I recently asked for advice here on building a new PC for my dad. Needless to say I was recommended good parts and finished the build yesterday.
Now however there is a new problem and this one has to do with sound. Basically, whenever the PC is turned on and the Windows 7 logo appears there is this annoying high pitched noise coming in from the speakers.
It continues even when the OS is fully launched thus making it impossible to hear any other sound.
I've tried pretty much everything such as installing realtek audio drivers from the motherboard's driver CD - didn't help, uninstalling them - didn't help either, installing audio drivers from realtek's website - didn't work either.
I know for a fact that the issue is not with the speakers itself, because they worked fine minutes before the upgrade on the older PC and I've tested them. I've also plugged in a pair of working headphones and they still had the high pitch noise.
Then a thought began to cross my mind. Maybe it's not the drivers, but possibly the audio chip itself on the motherboard is damaged (despite the fact that's it's a brand new motherboard). Two things made me come to this conclusion. First the noise began to happen when I entered the motherboard's utility software in BIOS and launched its build-in web browser. Second, as I've said before the noise happens even before the OS is fully launched - so I assume that wouldn't be a driver issue. What do you guys think? All help is appreciated.
Here are the specs BTW:
CPU: AMD FX-8320
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46
RAM: Kingston Hyper X Blu 8 GB (2x4GB Modules) 1600MHz
GPU: Radeon 7770 HD
PSU: 500 Watt
OS: Windows 7 64 Bit
