Wanted to know if anyone else had the first 2 dimm banks die on them. The first black and yellow banks seem to be dead. If I put memory in either slot the memory led on the motherboard lights up solid red and it wont boot. But if I put the same memory in the last 2 dimm banks on the board the system will post and boot into windows fine.

Anyone else have this happen to them? Any way I can fix this without taking the board back?

Thanks! :)

The Z87-A motherboard is a dual memory board. The memory is supposed to go in either A1 & B1 or A2& B2 both but not one stick in A1 and one in A2.
What happens if you put the two sticks in either the brown or yellow slots?
Below is a quote from the motherboard manual
Supports two (2) modules inserted into either the yellow slots or the dark brown slots
as one pair of Dualchannel memory configuration. We suggest that you install the
modules into slots A2 and B2 for better compatibility
