Hello everyone !

Specs:

- ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5870 1024MB GDDR5 SDRAM
- 8192 MB Kingston DDR3 SDRAM
- GIGABYTE GA-770TA-UD3
- AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 3,2gHz
- ST31000528AS Harddrive (1 TB)

My problem:

Hello, I heard so many good rumors about Tom's Hardware that I had to share my problem here in the hopes that I'll have a cheap / free / simple way of fixing it ( the hard way being to buy a new rig/components :D ). Some time ago I started experiencing fps stalls/stutters/tiny freezes in every game I play, in Minecraft it's not a lot but still present, on the other hand, in games like Arma 2 DayZ mod or Natural Selection 2, it becomes very annoying and very frequent after a while though resulting in the games being borderline unplayable. A long time ago, I removed the stock cooler and casing from my GPU and installed a big nice cooler with proper heatsinks and cooling paste, and as you can see the temps on my GPU really isn't high in idle or load. Very recently (after the problem had been there for a while) I replaced the thermal paste on my CPU since the stock thermal paste was really dried out and sad, sadly this didn't help anything.

NOTE: I recently disabled AMD OverDrive, this somewhat helped the issue a little, as it is hard to trace the problem in Minecraft, and the problem is somewhat reduced in the other games mentioned (yet still present).

Aside from these things, I've made sure to keep my drivers up to date/keep my computer (who's an old lady nowadays) clean and tidy and despite from my FPS problems in games it runs fast and swell still to this date when doing normal tasks etc.

I will post temperatures in idle and tell you the (typical) temps under load, and also give you a HWiNFO screenshot, if you need dxdiag or any other information to help resolve the issue I will happily post.

HWiNFO (Specs and other techy stuff !) :

HWMonitor (Temps in idle) :

NOTE: Under load the CPU temps go to about 58-60c, my GPU goes to about 40-50c the TMPIN0 and TMPIN1 listed under my motherboard doesn't fluctuate much, same with the TMPIN2 which seems abnormally high as it is 84c (it sometimes randomly changes a few degrees down or up, (85c being the highest I've noticed)

Thank you so much for reading!
- and sorry for a long post !

Hello and thank you for your interest and quick response, you may be right, but Minecraft isn't really a new nor demanding game, neither is Arma 2, it's fairly old, Natural Selection isn't demanding either, I meet the recommended specs at ease, additionally, my problem isn't altered or helped in any way in any game I played by changing the video settings sadly, it's all the same on lowest as it is on highest - this leads me to believe that the problem exists elsewhere.

Hello again, I may not have mentioned this in my initial post, but I have recently (and do often) clean my computer thoroughly cabinet, heatsinks, fans etc. also as you can see on the temperature screenshot and from what I wrote the GPU really isn't overheating, so why should I remove the heatsinks and reapply thermal paste?

Thanks for your time
