I have an Intel DH61WW Motherboard with Socket 1155. I currently have bought all the essentials for my computer. Power supply, hard drive, gpu, etc. However my current processor is an Intel Pentium g620 and I want to upgrade to ANY intel core i5 series. But the problem is, I hear the H61 chipset isn't fully compadible with Ivy Bridge. I don't want another motherboard as I am financially broke. (I'm very young 15.) And I know that if I get the CPU I might have to do a BIOS upgrade. (My current bios is 4.06.04 2011.) What happens if I install a newer Intel core i5/7 and I don't have the right BIOS? I can't seem to get this off my mind and it's very important as I'm preparing my computer for newer games. Here's my specs.
Intel Pentium G620
8GB DDR3
Ati 6570 2gb Super Clock flashed to 6670
630 Rosewill Green Series
500gb seagate
Windows 7 ultimate.
Please let me know what happens if I install a newer processor and this board isn't going to work. I know the socket, so I know which processor I'm getting.

You currently have a very old BIOS version that is not compatible with newer CPU's.

As for your motherboard compatibility, you need to determine the "Board Revision".

Board revisions are identified by an Alternate Assembly number (AA#). An AA# is a 9-digit Intel part number used to differentiate between board families, different configurations within a family, as well as revision history of the board. The AA# can be found on the component (top) side of an Intel board, on a small barcode label. It is also printed on the label on a Intel board box.

I updated and went through a BIOS failure. I had to remove the jumper and do a recovery. Now I have my computer running. THANK GOD. But I have another problem, in DXDIAG my bios version shows as default. What is the deal?
