Hey guys I recently upgraded my CPU from Athlon X2 to a FX 6350 and the stock heat sink was really loud, I bought a new heatsink and tried to apply it to the 6350. Me being an idiot forgot to run my pc to warm the thermal paste and ripped the 6350 right out the socket!

The pins actually broke on my 6350 but when i try to put my old CPU in the computer wont boot or even get to bios! Is my computer and if so what do i need to replace? thanks!

Specs:

CPU - AMD FX 6350
MOBO - GIGABYTE 78LMT-USB3
GPU - RADEON HD 7770

Ask for more info :)

Your mobo is messed up, need a new one of those, a new cpu for sure. And what do you mean ripped right out of the socket?

Eximo, He clearly stated he did.

OP, you need to replace your mobo and CPU. You broke em both.

Ahhhhh rough day bro.. My guess is that some of the pin fragments from the 6350 remain in the socket of your motherboard and that is causing the issue with the old CPU. Not sure if the board is actually broken or if it's just the pins but good luck getting all those pin pieces out so yes it's pretty much new cpu/board time.

Thermal adhesive and thermal interface material (TIM, paste) are different products. The former is used to glue heatsinks to integrated circuits. I just don't see removal of a normally applied heatsink ripping the CPU out of a ZIF/PGA, or LGA socket.

Lol, I had this happen to me when I was taking off my CPU once. All was fine and dandy, I was a lucky one. It's usually the stock thermal paste kind of cements its self to the CPU.

If the PSU was working before that, I doubt it's that. how big is the PSU? And do you have everything plugged in correctly?

I've yet to hear anything bad about this board... other than the fact you cant really run SLI or Crossfire. But this one seems pretty stable.
