Hey guys,

I have a Sony VPCEH35FM

Laptop Specs:

Socket 988B rPGA (confirmed removable)
Current CPU Intel Core i5 2450M
Chipset Intel Sandy Bridge
Southbridge Intel HM65
GPU Intel HD Graphics 3000 (GT2+)
BIOS INSYDE R0200Z9
2x4GB DDR3 Ram (PC3-10700)

I am looking for a i7 as I am running multiple VM's for work and it takes about 20minutes to boot one. Any help would be much appreciated.

That is what I found, and tried, I have a Core i7-2820QM here, and that is in the compatible list you listed, I have removed the BiOS battery for 10 minutes, installed the Core i7-2820QM and the computer will not boot, is there something I am missing?

VM is for car diagnostic software, I run 4, two at all times, one is for diagnostic's, another is for full programming of the car. The two I always run take the most to boot up, the other 2 VMs, one is for car coding, the other is for 32bit XP compatibility.

Wow. You do a lot more with VMs than I do. How much memory does your computer use when running all those VMs? I just wonder if you are getting low on RAM while running all those VMs.

I use a VM on an old Dell Latitude D531 with an AMD Turion 64 X2 processor and 4 GB of RAM installed. I use it for a service manual CD I have for my car, which refuses to run on a 64-bit OS. I just clocked how long it takes to start a Windows XP VM and got about 2 minutes for it to be usable. I've never tried running 4 on it, though. The fan runs fast enough with just one VM running.

Most def not a ram issue, I have 8GB, and see maybe 6GB of use. The problem is when one is not booted and a client pulls up, I have to wait 20mins to load, looking for a faster processor.
