Hi. I have an AMD fx6300. I just downloaded TERA and started to play it but it constantly freezes in large towns etc. I noticed on my CPU monitor that it only showed one core being utilized (basically is was showing 77% usage while the other five were ~5%). When I close TERA the CORE being used goes down to normal. Is there any way to make TERA and/or games in general take advantage of multiple cores?

The answer is no. The game must be coded to use more than one core.

From what I've read most online MMO games only use one core. Planetside 2 is one of the handful that can use more than 1 core.
