Are my CPUs broken?

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a small lot of computers parts off of eBay. However, the seller didn't properly package everything and one resistor broke off of each CPU (E6600 and E5200). I've read that CPUs missing one or so resistor can function, but not as stably. I'm not interested in overclocking, and I wanted to upgrade my parent's desktop from an E6300 to the E6600. I planned on selling the two sticks of RAM that also came in the package to recoup what I paid.

This is the E6600

And the E5200 (The broken piece is stuck between a few other resistors)

My question is, should I bother trying to see if these CPUs work? Or would it be best to return everything and get my cash back?

Thanks for the help!

Would it make a difference if I paid $20 for everything? (just curious) Thanks for the input

Well, does $20 make a difference to you?

Personally, I'd want that back, that's like 3 hours of work.
