i could use some info from someone familiar with raid 0 setups. I just built a new pc and I got 2 x 1TB WD blacks 64mb with a asus rog hero 1150 MB. this raid will be for all my games and other programs for now. I have a samung pro ssd 256 for the OS. I had to go into device manager to locate the raid hard drives because they weren't showing up in the local directory where the ssd is showing up. my question is. how do I get it to show there with the ssd? in disk management it shows as unallocated. im new to all this so any input would be greatful. maybe I didn't do the raid setup properly in bios? seemed to be pretty cut and dry.

thanks

Solution
Unallocated space will not show up under the local directory. Simply go to disk management. There should a 2TB of unallocated space (your 2 1TB drives should not appear separately) Right click and hit new simple volume

You're pretty far along! Head back into Disk Management and right click the volume. Is 'Activate Volume' or 'Enable' an option? For some reason, you get to do this with some drives in Windows 7 that I don't think I ever had to do in Win XP.

you are correct, it only shows one of the hard drives in disk management. did what you said and its now in my local as one 1TB HD. thanks for the info, greatly appreciated. now the other fun part of loading software :D

OK set go over the steps for making a RAID using Intel RAID

1. Go into BIOS set SATA mode to RAID. (In your case if this was not done already, switching will prevent you from booting properly)

2. Hit Ctrl+I During boot to enter Intel RAID setup. Select drives to setup your RAID

3. Continue to boot as normal. If you have to this is the part that you install Windows.
