HP xw6600 - Replacement Chipset Fan

I have a HP xw6600 workstation which is showing a 'Chipset Fan Error' on boot-up. Sure enough, the small fan over the chipset (not the CPU fan) is not working and feels/sounds rough when you gently spin it by hand.

The fan is labelled as a Delta EFB0412HD, so I ordered one online. Mistake number one: the standard EFB0412HD is a two-wire fan and the fan in the xw6600 has four wires.

I then contacted HP spares in the US. They told me that the fan is only supplied with the motherboard (some $200). They gave me a list of HP hardware specialist, none of which could help/supply the fan.

Is it really the case that a £1,200, three year workstation is now effectively scrap for the want of a £5 fan?

I could, I suppose, just hard-wire in the two-wire stock fan, but this won't fix the boot up error (requiring F1 to continue boot).

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for any other options, I would be most grateful.

Thanks Mironso,
It certainly looks like it - I have placed an order!
My only concern was that it said "condition - used", but I guess beggars can't be choosers eh?
I still feel it is odd that such an item can't be purchased new, but there you go.
Thanks again for your help.
