I had ubuntu 12.10 installed on my laptop an want to use my HP 1050 MFP on that version of linux, heard that Hplip can help me but how ??

Done exactly the same printer is working fine but what about scanner, how to take scans ??

Have you looked links that I send you? There people were complaining about scanner and found solution.

I believe xsane is already installed, if not
sudo apt-get xsane
Now for a front-end to it to make it friendly. Many of your programs have an acuire from scan option, for example in Libre office Insert -> picture ->from scan
Other graphic programs have similar options.
For a stand alone sudo apt-get install simple-scan
