Good morning,

I have a quick question about crossfire. I understand that to crossfire the 2 GPUs have to be in the same family such as 78xx's.
My question is; what about different brands? More specifically the two below:

- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150604&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= (currently have this)

Thank you for your time!

Solution
Perfectly fine to crossfire them.

Although I would suggest waiting before buying another GPU. HD9xxx are around the corner and Xfire still has many issues with frame pacing and micro-stuttering.

The way you stated it is correct, the series has to match, the brand doesnt matter. Even if the brands arent clocked the same, during crossfire the cards will run at the speed of whichever is clocked lower. You can always use software like MSI afterburnerto tweek things regardless of brand.
