Hello,

first of all I am new to this forum and I'm uncertain if this is the place to ask such questions but I guess it can't hurt.

Few days ago i bought a new laptop (which was very costy). It came with 6GB of RAM but I was suprised when I saw lag after I launched a few games. The games were met in the aspect of requirements but even after tweaking the setting from high (the game set it automaticly after scaning my pc) the lag wasnt reduced. So after some searching I found a little suprise in the preformance menu.As you can see on the picture above my physicle memory is very low due to the hardware needs. Is there any way to reduce them ?

Things I have done :
-Checked BIOS for memory remmaping feature (no such thing)
-Unchecked the run->msconfig->boot->maximum memory (it was alredy unchecked)

My system basic info:
Pavilion g6-2301sm
Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2020M 2.40 GHz
6 GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 7670M (1 GB)
750GB HDD

NOTE:
When I entered dxdiag it told me that my display device was Intel HD Graphics Family but the shop says its a AMD gfx card ...

Part of your problem is that you're apparently running the 32 bit version of Win 7, which will only support 3GB of RAM. I'm guessing the other missing RAM is due to sharing it with the video card. I suggest upgrading to the 64 bit version of Win 7 to enable all 6GB in the OS (minus what the video card is using), and possibly decreasing the amount set aside for the video card in your BIOS.

First off, you have a 32bit OS. So it can never access more than about 3.5GB of RAM. If they sold it to you that way, they were ripping you off.

Secondly, if dxdiag says you're using the Intel integrated graphics, that is probably what is sucking up the extra RAM.
See if there is a BIOS setting you can change to use the supposed AMD graphics.

Also, you have a 32 bit OS, that means you wont see more than 4GB in a best case scenario. No idea why they would sell you a PC with 32 bit OS and 6 GB of RAM... Also, the 1GB graphics card takes the space of 1GB worth of your RAM (its about address space) so in your case Best Case is 3 GB of usable RAM.

You should get 64 bit, its just much better.

Okay, after some searching it seemed that there are 2 video cards on the laptop :
AMD Radeon HD 7600 Series
Intel HD Graphics

First of all is it possible to just disable the use of one Video card to get some memory back or do I need to install a 64bit version of Windows ?

NOTE : Both Video cards in the device manager have yellow triangles on their icon ?!

Thank you all for your assistance !

After re-instaling windows to 64 bit i have now access to 5.9 GB of RAM with only 100Mb of RAM reserved for Hardware ...

Thank you all again !!!
