Dell Laptop Screen

I have a Dell Inspiron E1405 and the screen is not coming on when I boot everything up. If I hook an external monitor to it, everything displays fine, but nothing comes up on the main screen. I checked device manager and it says that everything is running fine. I am wanting to try to see if it can be fixed without buying a new screen. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

My first guess is that somehow it got set to use external display only.
There should be a Fn key to cycle between displays. External only, both, and laptop screen.

Try that.
Fn + F8 or F4

In case you are getting no display on your LCD screen and display is coming properly on the external monitor it means the LCD is not working.

In order to resolve the issue LCD and LCD cable may need to be replaced.
