I have a gopro camera with a 32gb sd card in it and when i plug my usb card reader into my pc it cant read the card and just says i need to format the card.. (which i dont want to do as there is 6gb of quality footage on it already) windows 7 isnt the problem because my last pc worked with it and that also had windows 7 :/ need help, any replies will be greatly thanked :) i can give full spec of my custom pc if need be

try it on another computer. If it works on there, transfer your data there temporarily, format your drive, and transport it to your cuttent computer. If it doesnt work there, your usb is malfunctioning.
