Hey guys, I'd like to get a new GPU for my older desktop.
I have an Athlon II x2 215 @ 2.7GHz, OCed @ 2.9GHz, stock fan.
3GB DDR2 Ram.
IDK what MoBo I have, but I think it's Asus. Anyways, that's not the problem.
I have a 5450 Radeon HD card. It can run games I play but on lowest settings, only.
I was thinking about getting 7790 or a 7850 1GB edition.
They cost 145$ (7790) and 175$ (7850).
Now, My MAXIMUM budget is 175$ for a GPU, I also need to get a PSU.
How big PSU would I need for my system?
I don't want any SeaSonic, or high end stuff.
I was thinking about Raidmax, Chieftec, possibly Thermaltake.
Something about 500-550W, probably?

I guess, what I wanted to ask is, how much better would a 7850 be over the 7790.
How much more wattage would it use, stuff like that.
I mostly play Killing Floor, World of Warcraft, Medieval II Total War, Counter Strike, Stronghold Crusader, Age of Mythology, Age of Empires...

Overall the 7850 looks to be approx 15% greater performance (as little as5%, as much as 20+%) depending
on the game. The 7850 use only a small amount more power than the 7790. The 7790
requires a PSU with 1 pcie connector, some 7850's require two, and reference models require one.

For either GPU a decent quality 450w PSU would suffice. But, the brands you listed don't qualify as
decent quality.
