Hey everyone I am currently having a few issues when playing BF3. My main issues is that I seem to have low GPU usage when playing multiplayer and sometimes I have some major frame rate drops. This is my current rig

I5 2500k stock clocks
2x 660ti SC 2gb in Sli
16gb gskill ram
Gigabyte Mobo
Corsair 750w PSU

I get about 50-60 percent usage on each card when playing on ultra but the line that determines the usage on afterburner constantly is moving up and down between 50-60 percent. When I run heaven or 3dmark it stays around 96-99 percent. Is BF3 that difficult to run or am I getting a bottleneck from my CPU? Or is this something that is battlefield related? I was considering upgrading to a ivy bridge i7 would this be a good idea?

What you're describing is exactly what one would expect with that setup. Your GPUs together can push well over 100 fps at those settings:

Whereas your CPU can "only" push an average of 75, with the minimum being much lower (the chart says 58, but that's bogus, my 2500k has to be overclocked into the 4.n GHz range to push a minimum of 60 FPS in BF3):

If you're troughing here and there, I'd recommend a nice OC for your 2500k.
Do you have Vsync on? that lower gpu usage quite a bit on many games.

You may want to try to set a profile for the game with "Power Management Mode" set to "Prefer Max Performance" if the frame rate drops are just short ones and you do not get stuck at those low frame rates.
