New build HDD won't show up

I recently just built a computer with an ssd for boot and a hdd for storage. I'm running windows 8. The hdd will show up in bios and device manager but doesn't appear in my computer making it impossible to store anything in it. I can create a path in device manager to access it. Any help?

Right click on Computer and click manage. Click Disk Management. Your second HDD will show up at the bottom. Right click the drive and select New Volume. Go through the steps. Boom.
