install cpu backwards

i installed my cpu backwards i locked it down and put together with battery and tried to turn on nothing i took apart again looked at cpu no bent pins not burnt smell i installed with arrows lined up now put back together and now dvd drive makes noise but wont post or enter bios did i fry cpu did i hurt motherboard or both can anyone help thanks mike

Well, unfortunately you done goofed.

The fact of the matter is, your CPU is most likely toast. If your lucky, your motherboard may have escaped undamaged. If you have a processor lying around that is the same socket (or even one in another computer), take it and throw it in your motherboard.

Best case, it works and your motherboard is good.
Neutral case, your motherboard does the same thing.
Worst case, you have a dead motherboard and two dead processors now.

(Proceed at your own risk)

Also, make sure the 4-pin power supply connecter that powers the processor is plugged in. The same symptoms you are getting also happen when you forget to plug that cable in. It's easy to forget and I have done it myself a few times.
