Hallo,

I recently bought 2 DDR3 GeIL RAM modules of 4GB each. I installed both the Ram modules on my MSI z77 Mpower motherboard in slot 2 + 4. I went to BIOS option ''Enabled'' the option XMP (Extreme memory profile) and dubbled checked the volt later to ensure that the voltage of the RAM modules was set 1.65 volt.

When i enter my BIOS it says that 8GB of ram is detected so i'm pretty sure they are connected properly but whenever i go to my computer + properties only 3.46gb RAM is detected.

someone knows the problem?

thanks in advance

When you say you bought 2 DDR3 GeIL RAM modules, do you mean you bought 1 kit that consisted of 2 x 4GB RAM, or did you buy 2 kits each consisting of 1 x 4GB RAM?

There is your problem
32 bit will only recognize 3.5gb of ram

you will need to upgrade to a 64 bit OS

That might be your issue. You shouldn't combine individual kits of RAM because depending on your motherboard and differences in the RAM, the efficiency is lowered or it may not work at all. Next time, try buying only 1 kit of 2x4GB RAM.

However, just in case you may want to try inserting your RAM into the 1 and 3 slots. If that doesn't work, then it's probably just incompatible RAM sticks.
