Hey all,

Trying to diagnose a problem here. I upgraded my RAM from 8 GB to 4 GB tonight. Got it all seated and went to turn on my CPU. The post beeps but nothing is ever displayed on my monitor. My motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138355) displayed an error "AE" and then an error "45". I've done some extensive web searching but can't really figure out what this stuff means. These codes aren't listed in my mobo's manual and I'm at a loss. I tried putting my old RAM back in with no luck. Double checked all plugs and connections with no luck. Tried seating my RAM in different slots on the mobo but it's a no go. I can't even imagine what the problem is other than my mobo bugged out when I swapped RAM. Any suggestions?

Well I feel like an idiot...but apparently one of the plugs on my PSU was either dead or not plugging in correctly. When I swapped the PSU connectors going into my GPU to a different set, everything fired up fine. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a new GPU too. Glad I fussed with the cables first!

I don't know how to go into the BIOS when I am not getting any video on my monitor. I just get a black screen.

Also...error code 45 seems to be the far more prevalent error. AE only flashes up for 2 or 3 seconds.

Ok I popped the battery and put it back in. Motherboard posted but still no video. New error code reads ab...which my manual says means "Prepare BBS for Int 19 boot. Init MP tables.". I have no idea what that means....

Yup. The hdd is connected and the windows disk is in the drive. Everything is spinning and clicking on as it should as far as I can tell...just nothing displays on my monitor. And just to rule it out...yes I did just get the AE code again, I double checked to make sure the monitor and PC were connected, AND nothing happens on my monitor. Monitor simply says "no signal from HDMI".

I'll have to check that in the morning. My roomie is using my vga and he's using his PC. Plus I'm tired. What boot order should the bios be in? The HDD yeah?

From these 2 GB sticks (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139659)

To these 4 GB sticks (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139075)

The 2 GB sticks worked great so I decided to stick with the same thing with the upgrade. I swapped sticks and everything went bad. I swapped the sticks back to the 2 GB and everything stayed bad. That's all I did.

I hooked with a VGA and was able to successfully get into the BIOS and Windows. The boot order is correct, HDD first followed by CD/DVD. I'm guessing the GPU is the issue. Any way to rule out if it's the GPU or the slot on my motherboard without having a second GPU available to me?
