I have recently built a new computer and installed windows 8 64 bit. I copied some games from my laptop to the computer and for most games I got this error, please help

Solution
This sounds like a directx or runtime issue now, please look into the arma 2 folder for Redist or #README# folder. Generally cracked copies of games come with a seperate installers for runtime/directx specific to that game, this or these folders may contain them - if not you can google *game name* directx and runtime requirements and there should be promising results.
The only way I have seen you can "copy" games is with Steam. Copy the Steam folder and it reinstalls the necessary parts for you.

You need to reinstall them as there are DirectX features the game installs to be able to access said DX features. Without them the game wont load and if it was an older version of Windows on the laptop it probably doesn't have all the needed files for 8 as well.

Okay I'll try reinstalling. My laptop has windows 7 installed so I'm not sure if it is a big deal. Maybe if it was like windows 6 it would be
