Best Card to replace a 5850 1Gb?

My friends sapphire toxic 5850 1gb gpu that i gave him is starting to show its age and the screen either goes black or shows blue/tan lines with no OS control via keyboard when gaming and requires a full reset to fix. Its quite annoying and he would like to look for a new card to replace it. Only concern isnt really price but how the gpu will perform with the rest of the system. This card was bottlenecked by his cpu at stock in multi core games like BF3, but not so much when slightly overclocked.

Phenom II X4 945 @3.0 / OC'd to 3.2Ghz
Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H Rev 1.0
Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD 5850 1Gb
4x1Gb DDR2 800Mhz
Cooler Master TX2
Corsair GS600

At the moment it seems the GTX 760 is the best performance to cost ratio, but would it be bottlenecked by the cpu to the point its not worth getting?

With a very decent card with nice performance/price, go with gtx 650 ti.
It can play most games in 30 fps and it's quite a budget card

If you got trucks of moneys, uprgade CPU and mobo to i5 3570k and some asrock mobo(quite cheap , but very nice quality and features), then buy a gtx 660 x 2 and do SLI....it wil punish every game

Well when i meant money isnt an issue, i meant just for the gpu lol

So a 650 ti or ti boost would match or be better than a 5850, cant find some direct or partially relavent data to show

Edit: looking it seems that the 760tx and hd 7950 are pretty cheap for what ur getting. I mean getting a decent 650 ti or boost u can get a 7870 and for that u can get the 7950 and so on lol I know there would be a bottleneck with something like the 760 or 7950 but for the cost i think it looks like one of the better deals. Or else its $150 for a ti boost, and $185 for a 7870, $195 for 660, $220 for 7950, and $260 for 760 any thoughts on best for the cost? Would it be better to get a good card and take the bottleneck or just go lower end? Also AMD has the never settle forver bunded with their cards, free games are always a plus lol

That CPU wont bottleneck anything short of a 7950 in MOST games.

Well i found out that the gpu can play ultra on bf3 at 1080p with my cpu, but with his cpu stock he was set back to high with gpu sitting around 85%
