Hi, first of all here are my specs:
i7 2600 @ 3.4GHz
8GB DDR3-1333 memory
2TB Western Digital 5400rpm HDD
Blu-ray disk drive
MSI Z77-G45
2x 2GB EVGA Geforce GTX 660 Ti in SLI
Hauppauge DVB-T USB TV Tuner
Corsair CX750 750w PSU
Zalman Z11 Plus case

Oh and a dead OCZ 240GB Agility 3 SSD as of yesterday -.-

So I bought a new SSD and had all of my data on my 2TB HDD before, I do a clean install of OEM Windows 7 on my SSD, works fine, plug in my HDD and carry over my download folders (around 15gb). Then the pc gives me a blue screen, everything shuts down and my SSD is dead, can't see it in the BIOS and a orange light is coming off of it.
Before I started transferring any files from the 2TB hdd, I deleted the old OS and Windows folders I had on it (bad move) and I made it a dynamic partition, I think that's what it said.

So accepting the fact that the SSD is completely dead, and the HDD won't boot because there is no OS, I put in my install disk - http://www.computer-system-software.com/photo/pl532011-windows_7_pro_sp1_64bit_oem_discs_with_dell_quality_computer_utility_software.jpg
and I try to reinstall windows 7.

(It shows 2 disks, disk 0 Unallocated space - 100mb and disk 0 partition 2 - 1.8TB of free space

When it installs it gets to Installing Updates, then it gives me this error - Windows cannot copy files from D:\Sources to C:\$WINDOWS.~LS\Sources. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017

This is p*ssing me off so bad!!

You could do what you are saying.
And if you have not written any information to the drive place it in another system.
Install partition or drive recovery software and run it on the said drive it may set it back to the way it was, and the hidden partition.

Once done place it back in the other system you have use the dell disk ect and it should complete the setup of windows on the SSD drive C:.

There is plenty of software to do this, some it free, some you pay for with more complex recovery options.

Well the reason for the error is down to the cd/dvd disk supplied to you.

The disk does not harbor the full windows 7 os at all.

It contains the setup portion of windows up to a point.

And from there as you can see points to a hidden image to complete the rest of the setup of windows Since it is looking at the D: drive for windows updates ect.

If you changed any part of the D: drive with a format or deletion of a partition of the d: drive then your pretty much out of luck.

Unless you can undo it or reclaim the status of the drive having written no new information to it.

If any data was written to the drive after a deletion of a partition or a format all is lost.

If the case a full Os install version of windows 7 is required on dvd.

But I used this disk before, twice when my HDD was completely blank to install windows 7 from scratch?

Is my HDD set back to factory defaults when I formatted it or is it still a dynamic partition?

If your disk has Hp or any other name on it ,other than just the windows 7 dvd.
It uses a hidden partition to complete the install of windows .
Is this the case ?

You made a basic disk into a dynamic disk, so the partition cannot be read.

When it comes to the rest of the setup, it would not point to the D: drive looking for files like updates for windows if it was the full install of windows from the supplied dvd disk.

I don't know, it's a dell oem windows 7 set up, but it's worked fine twice before, in fact I think 3 times?

If I plug in my HDD to a pc that can boot windows, can I revert my HDD back to normal again, and delete the partition?

The SSD is completely dead I think, it had a amber light coming from it and it wasn't detected in the BIOS so I assume it's dead.

I have made the HDD a basic partition again and I have formatted it again and I'm now going to try to install the OS onto that drive using the spare, old pc.

It installed perfectly fine on the old pc, but when I plug it into my pc I had this problem :
'reboot and select proper boot device'

and so I tried once again to reinstall on that PC and nothing happened, still same old problems.

Just realised I'm talking a load of crap, there was an OS somewhere everytime I installed the new OS.
Sorry about that!
Thanks for your help!
I think I'm going to get a trial/illegal copy of Windows burned onto a disk, install that as a base, then use my legit/legal code to verify the pc, that should then solve the problem :)

Are you running a OEM copy of windows? Even if you are just reinstalling to the machine that you activated originally on, a OEM copy does not allow for reinstallation without issues. I found a way around this is to use a program called "advanced tokens manager" to backup the activation token before formatting, reinstalling, then running the program again to restore the token. You must follow the instructions to the letter! This is a legit, legal way of reinstalling windows. It is complete BS that microsoft prevents you from reinstalling windows from a blank drive!
