Samsung LCD severely malfunctioning

Hello,

I've decided to make this thread since 1 hours of google searching about the topic found nothing really relevant.

All of a sudden, my Samsung LCD ( Model S24A300H ) decided to stop working. By stop working I mean it seems to be unable to connect back to the default mode. It only offers me HDMI mode, although I have it set up on a regular cable, not HDMI, if I try to hit the source button and change the code it just goes pitch black.

I tried opening it along with the PC, leave it closed and connect it after the PC has started, nothing worked, it just seems completely unable to change back to the analog mode. I cannot access the Menu option at all, except if I completely disconnect it from the PC, open it then and it will not give me a single option on the menu except Setup&Reset which then only has PC/AV mode highlighted but non-modifiable.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I would prefer trying to figure this out on my own given as how the warranty on it expired just earlier this month ( my luck ). I also must mention that it gave absolutely no signs of any bad behavior for 1+ years until I came back from a vacation and just wouldn't display anything. The problem is limited to the monitor itself, I plugged in an older monitor on the same cable I use for this one and this second one works.

Sounds like the inputs died. Since another monitor works on the same connection, its not the video card nor the cable. Have you done a factory reset?

If the warranty just expired, contact them anyway, they may send you a new one anyway.
does the hdmi input on the monitor work and give you a picture?

it could be that the vga cable has become damaged or the analog to digital converter has failed or the vga output on your pc has failed.

try the hdmi input with any hdmi device you have to check the monitor still works.

Hi there,

It doesn't seem to be the VGA cable, I connected the same cable to a different monitor and that one worked. I bought an HDMI cable and tried that out, the video board and Windows recognize the second display but it still doesn't display anything. The strange this is this though : It still doesn't just seem to not be functioning it all, if I close the monitor and open it again, it will go into HDMI, the Analog, then pitch black and just goes into stand by after a few minutes.

If I leave it as a solo monitor, nothing, if I install it next to the one that works, the system sees it.

It's not the video board or output, else the other monitor wouldn't work.
The most logical answer is that it's just broken, but If the Samsung was busted, I imagine it wouldn't even be able to display the modes at the top left side, or give me the "Check signal cable HDMI" message floating around the screen. It can still display things, just not the input from the PC it seems, and it's not letting me access the Menu tab on it.
