Hi guys, need a little help here

yesterday i bought an hd5670, works like a charm(bought it from a friend)

i also bought a dvi to vga adapter because my monitor doesn't have a dvi slot(samsung 743nx)

i plug in all the thing that need to be plug in, when i turned on the computer, the monitor says no cable attached then when plug my vga cable to the vga slot of the motherboard, all sounds good

please need a help here, this is the firs time i encountered this problem

is it possible the monitor can't detect dvi signals or either the mobo or gpu has the problem?

Thanks!

i think i know what is happening, it looks like the integrated graphics are not being disabled, if the cards in the machine and you get a display out of the integrated then the discrete card is not overiding the integrated.

you need to go into your bios and make sure its set to disable the integrated. should be something like primary graphics adapter, auto detect, integrated or pci-e or something along those lines. set it to pci-e

Possibly, i will buy a new adapter tomorrow, but the another thing i don't understand is that when i plug my monitor to the vga port of the mobo while the gpu is inserted, it work normally, because i know when you plug in a new gpu in the mobo, the vga port in the mobo will automatically disable.

could be a compatibility problem, some other people have had problems where a motherboard will not recognise the card and disable the integrated graphics, find out what your motherboard is and check if there is a newer bios for it and update the bios for it.
