Hello,

I already have one Sapphire 7970 Vapor-x Ghz Edition 3GB, and was considering buying another. Interested in some advice as to whether it will be a marked improvement or their is a more appropriate alternative.

I have a 3570k @ 4.2Ghz (Just for reference sake)

Cheers!

Hi - The most recent beta driver release from AMD greatly improves the CF issues that are
inherent in AMD CF usuage. However, the testing also states that it still is not up to
Nvidia's SLI performance.

Personally, if I already owned one 7970 and with the promos now running on 7970's,
I would get another one because of the recent driver improvement.
send me your vaporx and ill test it out for you haha since i want another as well, these cards run nice and cool as well.

the only thing to consider before is do you have room for a second? i know i can just fit it but id only have an inch between the pcb and the other fans and you need a fan blowing in there to keep them cool

2 7970s will destroy most games out there no problem. its really only necessary for like crysis 3, metro, or a 1440/1600p monitor or multi monitors.

I plan on just getting the sapphire OC since its onsale for 279 almost 100 cheaper than the vapor x. if you dont plan on overclocking them each to the max get the OC version and keep them around Ghz speeds for less heat and noise
