I've been having this problem for a while now, and I can't seem to find any fixes on my own. I have an Alienware m15x which is roughly 3 years old now, and for about three months, it's been doing rather poorly with specific games (namely League of Legends). I read about driver updates for the m15x, and those didn't help much, but I installed HWMonitor while doing so, and found two things. My processor's 4 cores are always at 55+ degrees, and my power supply to the core constantly drops from 45w to 13.78w. Anyone know what's going on?

try a new powersupply/charger for your laptop. if it doesnt help i would have to say its motherboard related. check some settings in the bios and disable any power saving features. do the core clocks underclock when that happens as well?

Yeah, the cores' performances drop dramatically. I was hoping for a fix that wouldn't require a new power supply, but if that's the only thing left to try... Thanks for replying, btw
