Has anyone seen these in the wild yet or any reviews with numbers? My system is aging and I cant afford to upgrade mobo/cpu/memory just yet. However, the newer cards from LSI are much cheaper and produce less heat so its tempting to try one.

A new LSI 9300-4i is only $209 with free shipping and claims 1 million IOPs specifically designed for application performance and media streaming, etc. This is exactly the kind of stuff that I am looking for.

I just can not seem to figure out if it will work on my Rampage III Extreme x58 mobo or not, or if it will have any problems with my Crucial C300's.

Any thoughts on this new product series?

LSI products are outstanding, but I'm curious as to why you think that you need an enterprise class storage controller on a desktop. The Intel PCH isn't quite as enterprisey, but will often be faster.

lol, there is no such thing as "need" in the desktop home world, only want. I "want" instantaneous app loading, game loading, and what ever else I can get my Windows 7 and VM's to do instantly. My 24Gb of memory isn't providing enough Ramdisk space anymore. Just want the fastest SATA III snappiness that can be done on this system. However, after doing more reading this 9300-4i is only an HBA, not a raid card.

EDIT: Decided on the 9266-4i as it looks like the best bang for the buck and should bring to life my C300's, plus next year when I can afford more SSD's I will be ready for Samsung 850 Pro, lol...
