I have a TimeWarner 30MBps Ubee router that TW in their infinite wisdom has lockdowned the web control page on and shows almost nothing to boot. It's downstairs and I'm trying to add a DLink DIR-632 wireless router as a wireless AP per the sticky thread at the top of this sub-forum.

I do know the TW Gateway IP and SSID.
I put the DIR-632 upstairs near a switch, but not connected.
I then ethernet cabled the DIR632 to my laptop.
I entered the DIR-632 master page through Firefox and immediately changed the admin login password.
I then entered wireless security and changed it to WPA2 and matched the TW WPA2 pw.

I then went to DIR-632 network settings and :
1. turned DHCP off.
2. Set the IP to an unused address on my TW network.
3. Set the Gateway and subnet mask to match the TW router.

When I tried to save these settings It displayed the error message :

"LAN subnet conflicts with WAN subnet"

The screen looks as follows :

CC-WAN-LAN-SUBMASK-CONFLICT.JPG

The best idea is to have one real router and configure to second as an Access Point (AP). Do this by turning off the DHCP server and assigning an IP address on main network but outside the main router's DHCP range (like 192.168.1.2). You can make the SSID and PW the same as main router but on different channels. That way your devices will automatically connect to the strongest signal.
